About Sebastien Bassong Nguena
Hi, I’m Sebastien! I am a French born Cameroonian former football player. My former experience includes several professional clubs such as French Ligue 1 like Metz where I started on premier league clubs like Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspurs, Norwich City, and the Cameroon national team.
Born in the multicultural Paris, I left my home at the age of 13 years old, and I developed my football love and skills through the world renowned Clairefontaine academy, the same academy that I was released from after two years, when normally you serve three, because they felt I wasn’t good enough. After that heart breaking experience, which felt like failure, I signed with the academy of Metz where I continued my development and ultimately signed my first professional contract at 17.
My first move and experience out of the country that shaped everything happened when I signed with Newcastle United at 19. Everything started to take off with this famous premier league. After an amazing season and my best performance ever, I made a big move to Tottenham.
"Ahhh, London life..."
Different wages, more money, more success, BUT more problems too. I started experiencing fake friendships, people taking advantage of me, betrayals, family issues, injuries, being on the bench, bad influences always related to my status and money, and not to mention massive pressure in my personal life. I was always trying to figure out where I belonged. Am I still a guy from my neighborhood or am I just a fancy baller? Have I changed? Then comes the time when I am out of contract and my phone doesn’t ring as much as it used to.
It got to the point where I didn’t see as many people around anymore and life started to become a little bit darker every single day without being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Self-doubt, low self-esteem, feeling unworthy and abandoned were all feelings knocking on my door.

Lucky for me, my mental toughness, my determination, my willingness of success at all costs, and my love for personal development were the tools that I hung onto to get me out of this situation. They helped me never give up and grow as a man and that’s why now I am deeply involved in providing and dedicating my second career to motivate, inspire, and empower young football players who are going down the same path.
My ambition is simple: I am here to leave a mark on the younger generations and provide them what I didn’t have to ensure they can embrace, fulfill, and more than anything unlock their real true potential through speeches, courses, and coaching programs.
Personal development is the key to overcome the situations mentioned above, if you know who you really are, what your strengths and weaknesses are, and what it really takes to make it in life and stay at the top, you will be the best version of yourself and you will kill the game.
